First of all, I must say my favorite handbag from the Nancy Zieman Templates is the Florida Bag.  I made it with fabric that I love and have received many compliments. I find I need a note pad often and just throwing it in the bag results in crumpled pages.

When Nancy came out with the E-Tablet and Paper Keeper Templates I knew immediately that I would make one for a paper tablet that would match my handbag. I had enough fabric left over and am delighted with the finished piece.

So being that I am a Quilter and had in my possession a “Sushi Roll” (2 ½″ strips) of luscious batiks from Bali Fabrics…I thought it would be fun to incorporate them into an E-Tablet cover.

I cut a piece of muslin just slightly larger than the pattern (to accommodate any sewing shrinkage) and drew lines at a 45° angle 2″ apart.

The lines would become my stitching lines and I built the cover as one would do if they were foundation paper piecing.

When the stitching was complete, I used the Medium-Sized Tablet Keeper Template on top of the “sheet” of fabric and cut to the exact measurements. Then I followed all the rest of the instructions for completing the Tablet Keeper.

This is an amazingly easy and fast project and now my husband wants one done using cast-off ties!
