Thank you for following my blogs and for watching Sewing With Nancy.

Some of you, who have read Seams Unlikely, already know that my life has been filled with detours due to medical issues.

Recently my life has taken another detour. I’ll explain in the video.

httpvh://youtu.be/7kkTp8vdj_0

Please know that I am rendered cancer free at this time. I’m feeling remarkably well and have been showered with love and friendship. The purpose of this video is not to alarm you, only to explain why you might see changes in the upcoming Sewing With Nancy season and my travel schedule. Most of all, it is meant to reassure you, that I’m doing well and being very well cared for.

Bye for now,

I wish you all the best to stay healthy and feel as good as you can. I can relate why you make changes in the light of such a life event – thing do change, physically, mentally and emotionally, with cancer and Life needs changes after that – it is a proces, not a set and fixed program 🙂 Keep yourself and your well being on focus and people will understand!
Really love you for your personality, your skills and your talent for tutoring.
Firm handshake and warm greetings from The Netherlands!

Praying the very best our Lord has to offer you! I was saddened of this news and realize what a dear friend you are in my life… I may never meet you in person but wish you the best as I would my best friend…. I was just recently healed by The Lord from 4th stage terminal colon/rectal cancer that had been far spread…if Jesus can heal me He can do it for you!
I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Psalm 118:17. Much love.

We lovingly refer to you around here as “Aunt Nancy”. If I am ever stumped on how to do a particular technique or alter a pattern to fit me, I say, “I bet Aunt Nancy knows how!”, and I grab one of your many wonderful books off my reference shelf.

Seems remarkable that someone in your situation feels the need to reassure us, but then again you have always been pretty remarkable. Though we’ve never met in person, I feel like you’re an old friend and am heartbroken by this news. I’m not too worried though, I’m 100% sure you will get through this just fine. You always are thinking of others, but remember this is the time to be selfish and think of yourself. Take care.

Dear Nancy–I am overwhelmed with emotion. I hope your fine spirit and optimism get you through this tough time. I know you are giving me inspiration and strength as I prepare to have open heart surgery on the 27 of May to replace a aortic valve that apparently was missing a leaf and to remove an anyeurism that was found after having a stroke last October. I am scared, but knowing what you are going through gives me the strength to be a big person and deal with it. I was hoping to get to see you again at sewing weekend–in fact when setting a date for surgery I told the surgeon that I would like to make it after the 10th if possible because I already had my tickets and didn’t want to miss it. I will be praying for you. Also–we must find a way to improve on hospital gowns–they are the nastiest things!! Does your creatve mind have any ideas? Love and best wishes to you-stay strong!

Nancy, I have watched you for years on Canadian Television and have some of your books and still try to follow you today. Once I could no longer get your shows on Canadian Television I was very sad but knew in this day of technology I would find you somewhere. And I did just that.
I was very saddened by your news but know you are a strong person with God, family and all of your sewing friends to help you through this.
Please take all the time you need to heal as we want you to be able to be with us for a very long time.
My prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery go out to you.
May your days be filled with God and family and the strength to get you through this ordeal.
Life is full of challenges that we must all face and you face yours with dignity and grace.
I am wishing you all the best and hope to see you back here soon.

    Dearest Nancy:
I learned to sew while watching “Sewing With Nancy” on WTTV-4, Indianapolis, IN, back in 1971. I was preggers with my son, who is 42 now. I’ve watched, followed and purchased your books ever since. This is just another temporary “bump” in the road of life that we all share. We will be here when you return; in the meantime, you take care of you and rest with your family, as they’ve shared Nancy Zieman for most of their lives. GOD bless, get well and we’ll see ya soon!

  • Anna Nusbaum
    May 6, 2015

    Gosh, Nancy!

What a giant speed bump followed by a rough road. You are doing exactly the right thing — shifting into low gear and taking it slow and steady.

While I will miss YOU on the show, you have established a wonderful program and your friends will do a great job for you.

Do what the physical “terrorists” tell you (that’s what my PT folks called themselves when I got my knee replaced 😉 ). The old saying is true — the more you do, the more you can do.

Hope we’ll see you back on track as soon as it is right for you!

I am determined to not let it stop me from my sewing. I will surly keep you in my prayers that our Lord will keep you in His hands. Love your show, and have been watching for about 30 maybe longer years. I have tapes of your shows that I am trying to get put on cd s. Hope they got all of your cancer, they did get all of mine . MAY OUR LORD BLESSED YOU AND KEEP YOU IN HIS ARMS.

She has cerebral palsy by the way and a child with Asperberger’s syndrome.
When I started as a fan, I noticed you have the same zest for life and I smile at the way you both deal with life like grabbing a tiger by the tail and swinging it out of the way.
I am encouraged and amused by such grit and determination.
You’ll be back to teach me and countless others so much more about sewing and life and I’ll keep you in my prayers bc I need what God gave you to share 😉 hugs

    Nancy,
I echo the thoughts of so many in saying my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you concentrate on a full and complete recovery. My sewing talents and “know-how” come from two women – my mother and you! I learned to sew in 4-H as a young teenager and when I entered adulthood, you were there to continue to instruct me. As my teacher throughout the past 35 years, you have my utmost respect and gratitude for all you have taught me. God Bless you and your family!

Dear Nancy, you are a gift from God, not too many people do what you are doing “sharing your knowledge with love,” I feel so great full for knowing a person like you. God is with you and he will continue caring for you, I will pray for you and your family. A person Is not how rich it is, how it looks like, or how intelligent it is; what that person had done, the way that had contributed to others, the way that she /he spread the love of God with her/his love to others that is what make that person and that is how that person is remember, and “that person is you”. You are Bless and God will make sure you continue healthy to continue your work that will make other happy and you are happy as well and that make you strong to keep you going. I thank you so much for sharing I had learned so much from you, the way you teach it make so easy to learn and to love what we are doing.
    Thank you.

I am sure I am just one of thousands who wish you the very best. God is in control and He sure gives us some twists and turns through this life of ours. I was privileged to hear and see you when you came to King of Prussia, PA in the fall of 2014. Seeing you was my husband’s last gift to me as he died right after he purchased my ticket to the 3 day seminar. My very best to you my dear friend. I feel like you are my friend because of the years we have spent together via the TV and the inspiration you have been to me and to sewers all over this country. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Nancy – Sorry to hear about your setback, but you are strong and have a good support system in place with your family, friends and fans.

Thank you for teaching me how to sew. I struggled for many years to get my techniques right and you helped me greatly along the way. I had no one to show me the ropes. I loved sewing and would often watch my grandmother, but I lost her when I was 7 and she had sparked a passion for sewing in me that often went unfulfilled. Thanks for your show, your videos, and books. Please take care of yourself and I will keep you in my prayers. Best to you.

Dear Nancy, You began life as a small baby girl just like Arlyss and God guided you on Life’s ways not always our wish for unpleasant days but possible because He will never leave us. It was so good to read in your book the credit you gave to your Mom for helping with 4-H projects. I see a great need for that today and since we have so many more technical gadgets we are still missing some of the basics. Thank God the medical profession have all done their homework so these generations can heal with their skills and His helps too. May you continue to gain strength in your body, mind and spirit. Thank you Nancy for updating us on your current challenge. I know without you I wouldn’t have picked up my sewing and become more enthusiastic about a beloved hobby I had laid to the side of my life. A career and then early retirement has altered the time I can devote. While I wasn’t ready to retire, but health required it, sewing has pulled me through some very depressing days. I now have a new routine, get up and start sewing, making sure I work on a project everyday. You are a true blessing, though I’ve never met you in person, but feel close to you through your tv series and myriad of books and videos I own; a collection that will never be outdated and I still refer to them often. Thank you for being you and being open, and honest it’s a honor to know you. God speed with your recovery ; and taking the time to care for yourself is so vital!

Best wishes for a focused health care team to surround you and help with your healing path. You are wise to make this known so healing thoughts and energy can be aimed in your direction! Also wise to take time away to heal and allow healing to take place. Rest, and complying with care is often difficult for those who feel the pull in all directions. Wrap up in a quilt, rest, practice your faith, gather your family!! The road ahead may have bumps, but with great nurses, good doctors, you will do fine!! hugs!!

Dear Nancy, You will be in my prayers for an easy therapy and recovery. I went through chemo and radiation in 2009 and have been cancer free for just over 5yrs. Cancer is not for wimps and the only advise I would give is something I know you already have in abundance and that is a great attitude. We have a choice everyday when we get up to whine or do the best that we can do with a smile if possible. You are a beautiful lady and deserve the very best for all you do. I wasn’t ready to head them up and go and you are not also. So glad you have a good support system all around. Take care and know you are loved. May God bless you always.

    Nancy,
I have been reading your autobiography while awaiting a scary neurosurgery. Thought you’d like to know what you and your classes and notions have meant to my family. I am also an adoptive mom-6 kids. For a lot of years you have been our go-to location for everything sewing and they all sew -even my husband. This June my youngest -a 20 year old girl with Dpwn Syndrome who watchd he siblings learn to sew with your techniques and wanted to do it too , will complete her 2nd year in fashion design classes at community college. A triumph for her. My 96 year old mother is still sewing all her own clothes with your notions and fabrics. So here is hoping for a successful outcome for both of us. Our prayers are with you.

You are like a member of my family. (The only thing is, you do not show up for dinner!) I cannot touch you but I can see you in every show, recording and video within my reach. I see a strong woman who can train her new bionic buddy to bring her back to the wonderful world of “Sewing With Nancy” or, to take her down a glowing path of fun and relaxation. Listen to God. Talk to Him. Sounds like His plans for you might be to slow down, rest and be near your family and friends. After all, Nancy, you’ve sewn everything there is to sew. We all love you and pray for you to be well. Thanks for opening up a whole new world for me through sewing.

You have given to all of us so much over the years with all our sewing mishaps, zipper crisises, suggestions to brighten our lives on a dull rainy day. Just turning on the TV and seeing your always clever and cheerful shows have kept us going. Hang in there Nancy and know you have a lot of people out here that care about you and are wishing you well and now I have to sign off and go and talk to God and do what I can do for you. But he can do more. So that is the least I can do for you and my honor to ask for you to be healed by his hand. God bless you. Barb

Dearest Nancy: I don’t know if you get a chance to read all of the comments and wishes, I hope you do as they are fantastic. Keep up your spirits and don’t forget to ask for help! I have had 6 diagnosis of 3 different types of cancer starting in 1995 and 20 years and 6 surgeries (the last 2 years ago) and multiple treatments I am still going strong. I wish the same for you as you “sew” your life back together!

    Nancy,

While I have had several of your quilting books given to me by my aunt, it wasn’t until I ready your book within the last year that I knew about your having had Bell’s Palsy as a child. I had never known that it could leave lasting effects. You have overcome many roadblocks and I’m sure, as you say, with the help of family of friends, you will come out on top after therapy. Wishing you all the best in this, life’s latest detour, and hope that I get to meet you some day!

I began sewing at age 13 with lessons on my neighbor’s sewing machine. From that beginning until today, sewing clothes is a deeply ingrained passion. I go back to your beginning with children and friends as models for your finished projects. I enjoyed every moment. I will continue to follow your current path and ask only that your “substitutes” provide updated messages of your journey as they carry on SEWING WITH NANY. Namaste.
