With all the extra-curricular demands in school and the availability of electronics for children, it is more important now, than ever, to get children using their hands to stimulate thoughts, help them see and solve problems, and spark another creative fire to feed them personally and spiritually (not just at church) so our children become more fully developed to face any challenge they will confront as they grow.

One of my granddaughters just asked for a sewing machine for Christmas. Her exact words were, “I want one that I can use.” So there’s a new sewing machine under the Christmas tree for her. I’m thrilled that she wants to learn to sew. After watching Nancy’s video with her granddaughters, I know this book would help so much with projects suited for a new and budding sewist!

My heart is breaking at losing Nancy. I am rereading her autographed copy of her precious book, Seams Unlikely. She has been such an inspiration to me and my precious husband has been bringing me to her Sewing Weekend for several years. I am sad she won’t be there anymore. She has given us SO MUCH regardless of the many medical issues she has faced throughout her life.
I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast cancer the same time Nancy was. I know we were both going through those treatments at same time. I have to say that I am scared that my cancer may come back or spread like Nancy’s did. I am so proud of Nancy for pushing on in her life to leave behind over 900 Sewing With Nancy shows and books and kits etc. She will continue to inspire me as long as God chooses to give me life.
Blessing to Richard, Ted, Tom and her precious little granddaughters. God truly blessed us with Nancy’s inspiring life.

    November 28, 2017

I will be so excited when I can afford all these new tools and patterns so that I can start teaching my youngest granddaughter to sew. She LOVES my fabric already so that’s a huge plus already. When she was much younger (about 3yrs old) she used to take all my scraps and put them into a little storage pouch I had given her. She carried that pouch around full of those scraps all the time as if there was gold inside that pouch. I have no doubt she will be thrilled for me to teach her. Between that awesome presser foot Nancy has introduced with this program and the ability to turn the speed down on my machine, I will be more confident myself she won’t hurt herself. That was always my fear when it came time for me to teach her to sew. Now I can’t wait.

  • Sandy Holland
    November 28, 2017

I’m so excited to see this book! I taught a nine-year old friend to sew last year but had to just wing it and make lots of changes in plans as we went along. I would have loved to have had Nancy’s advice. Now I’m thinking of teaching my one five-year-old Sunday School student. Surely I can figure out how to tie a sewing activity into the Bible lesson!

I have a granddaughter with whom I spend quite a bit of time. She loves to think that she is sewing. I was so thrilled to see Nancy in action in her “I Sew For Fun” segment. It reminded me that I am thinking in too complicated a manner for my granddaughter, so I am looking forward to reading her book for ideas as to how to gently build on the easiest of projects!

  • Debra
    November 28, 2017

I was so moved watching Nancy with her granddaughters. She wasn’t our beloved Nancy, just Grandma. They’re blessed to have this video of their fun time with grandma. I have 4 grandkids, all who are very interested and anxious to sew. My oldest, who’s 8, says pretty soon she’ll need her own machine. I know they would all love to make the cute owls!

  • Marilyn Jackson
    November 28, 2017

As the Grandmother of seven, and a new great grand daughter,
I enjoy sewing for them. Both of the parents work, so that often allows me the pleasure to babysit and keep them entertained. The four older ones enjoy learning, but it is a challenge to keep them all occupied. I’ve introduced them to sewing. ,Simple projects are not easy to come by, so Nancy’s Blog has been most helpful.

I’ve was privileged to have met her only once, but Oh I was thrillled. It was as though I met my best sewing buddy who visited me via “Sewing With Nancy” weekly. However when I recently read of her passing, I was reduced to tears. My husband consoled me, because over the years of viewing, I grew to love her more and more with each of her programs, books, notions and invaluable tips. To say Thank You, would never express my love and appreciation of the gracious lovely lady I had discovered in Nancy.

May her family, dear friends, staff, coworkers, and all that knew her well be comforted knowing Nancy is now with the Lord and the most beautiful Guardian Angel in heaven.

If I am honored by by winning “I Sew For Fun”, it would be a gift from heaven, if not, congratulations to the lucky winner.
May the Lord Bless you all.

I have watched Nancy off and on over the years (depending on whether our cable TV company carried her show.) Luckily I found the show again a few months ago on Create TV and have truly enjoyed all her hints and tips for good Sewing and quilting. I will really miss her and I am so glad we got to see her with her granddaughters. Her life was too short but her granddaughters will treasure the times they shared and this video will be a wonderful memory.

I love that Nancy was able to do this show with her grandchildren. It was heartwarming to watch this episode, it seemed so perfect. After shedding a few tears, I was happy to know Nancy can be shared with my daughters and my future grandchildren through the shows she has shared with us. She has meant so much to my family and me.

What a great book! I’ve been teaching my grandsons how to sew and adding fun to it does give them excitement! They are both really good at it now, both are 11 and 8 years old. The 11 year old is working on 3 quilts right now, pause he just finished a beautiful table topper for a gift! The 8 year old had made a doll for his moms good friends daughter and loved making pillows! He is making pillows for his Christmas gifts. So I would really love this book for them and I’d just fear the projects towards boys Fabrics.

This book and videos of Nancy sewing with her granddaughters is wonderful. What good memories they will have. I need the guidance of a good teacher myself. I have granddaughters I have taught (some) and a new little one that is just getting the bug. I could definitely learn more from Nancy on how to make it a pleasurable experience.

I am handicapped and can do very little physically with my granddaughters. This “I Sew for Fun” is such a GREAT thing to share with the next generation! The more I watched Nancy’s show, the more I thought of others I can share the love of sewing with. These simple projects are ideal for starting the joy of sewing in young ones, she had great ideas of sharing terms or nicknaming the machine parts. I will definitely miss all of Nancy’s new ideas. I hope you continue to keep her site and shows going, they are a treasure trove. Thank you!

What a fun video to watch. My daughter doesn’t like to sew. I’m looking forward to getting at least 1 of my 4 grand-daughters interested. I have one showing an interest but she lives in a different state. Our time is limited to develop her interest.
