Victoria’s Quilt Showcase

Greatest Possible Trust

The featured photo is of Victoria’s quilt, Greatest Possible Trust.  If my grandmother and I were able to make a quilt together, this quilt—Greatest Possible Trust—is what it might look like, explains Victoria. The design, a contemporary Double Wedding Ring, combines modern and traditional quilting and brings two worlds together. The quilt is also on the cover of her newest bookDouble Wedding Ring Quilts.

Remembering Christmas Past

Remembering Christmas Past is filled with images from Victoria’s childhood. The concave square of the Double Wedding Ring design is the perfect palette to showcase memories using fabric. With this quilt as the backdrop, learn her secret to piecing this traditional design.

Retro Poly Mod

If you asked most quilters, “What’s your go-to quilting fabric?” My guess is that polyester double knit would NOT be the response. Yet, polyester knit is what Victoria chose for this quilt! The look is modern; the stretch in the fabric makes piecing curves a breeze, and the durability is second to none.

The inspiration for the above quilt, was a design created by Victoria’s grandmother Elda, again using polyester double knits. Double Wedding Ring Quilts as seen on Sewing WIth Nancy with guest Victoria Findlay Wolfe

Bright Lights Big City

One hundred and fifty fabrics make this scrappy quilt extremely lively. The Bright Lights Big City quilt vicariously tells the story of Victoria’s move to New York City  and the life she built there. It also is a study in pushing a design, combining the New York Beauty quilt element with a Double Wedding Ring design. This quilt defines the term Improvisational Quilt!

Victoria’s Book is Visually Inspiring

If you need a boost of quilting adrenaline, a walk through Double Wedding Ring Quilts will provide the remedy. With full-size patterns for 10 quilts, the book will teach you the Double Wedding Ring basics plus Victoria’s unique fabric slashing and made fabric methods to create with personality.

I saw these quilts at an exhibit at the Schweinfurth in Auburn, NY. They are amazing and luckily were shown in a large room, allowing for their true impact to show. Would love to win her book and try one for my guest room.

My mother-in law has a beautiful poly quilt. That quilt will never wear out. These are very beautiful, back in the day, you used what fabric or scraps you had. Long time fan of the double wedding ring pattern.

I love Victoria’s fresh take on the traditional double wedding ring. I spent a week with her last summer at Madeline Island School of the Arts making my first DWR, and loved how I stretched my creativity. Thanks for this blog post, Nancy. If I win, I’ll donate the book to my guild, since I already own it.

I remember when my kids were little and the polyester double knit was the “in” thing. Used scraps from making their clothes along with denim and corduroy to make some fabulous heavy quilts that wore like iron. Victoria’s view of double wedding rings makes me want to do some experimenting with them!

My girls and I have been watching Nancy’s sewing show for years, and using the sewing tips. Now my daughters have shown interest in sewing quilts…..which I am not that familiar with, so an instructional book would help greatly.

You had me at the cover! The cover quilt illustrates my crazy marriage. I also love the use of polyester. When my mom passed, I found a bag of polyester strips she had for crocheting rugs. Maybe I’ll use them in a quilt. What a creative thinker this author is!

I used double polyester knit fabric to make a quilt for one of my daughters back in the late 70’s. I put new batting and a new back on it a couple of years ago and it is ready to go another 30 years. I so love the double wedding ring pattern and it’s on my bucket list to get one made for another daughter. She would especially like one similar to the “Remembering Christmas Past” quilt, perhaps with some photo printed fabric for some of the concave square.
