I am honored to be one of the 25 contributors to the new sewing book, Sew Red, and to host a stop on their blog tour. The goal of this book is to promote women’s heart health while passing along 25 great sewing or quilting projects.
My project is the Spiral Scarf, one of the most popular scarf projects that I showed on Sewing With Nancy. This time, I customized the sizing so that there is no guesswork when turning crosswise cut strips of fabric into a bias scarf! It’s a magical transformation.
In the book, Sew Red, you’ll find the dimensions and instructions. You’ll start out with a long rectangle piece, a very specific size.
Then, folding and stitching take place.
After about five minutes of sewing, you’ll turn the scarf right side out, do a little hand stitching, and enjoy your new Sew Red creation. You can also make the scarf from just one fabric. It’s even easier and equally as fun to wear!
You can find this project, as well as 24 other great ideas on quilting and sewing in the Sew Red book. The publisher, Jimmy Beans Wool, has agreed to contribute a minimum of 5% of the gross profits from the sale of the Sew Red book to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) in support of The Heart Truth® and women’s heart health education and research.
Inside Sew Red, you’ll find pattern sheets, instructions, beautiful photography, heart healthy tips & recipes, and personal stories of heart disease shared by the designers themselves. Some of the many designs from Sew Red include quilts from Kaffe Fassett, Valori Wells, Tula Pink, and Mark Cesarik as well as gorgeous accessories and garments by Brett Bara, Anna Maria Horner, Amy Butler, Ty Pennington, and so many more!
Has heart disease affected your life? What are you doing to live a heart-healthy life? Post your tips or suggestions. A random comment will be chosen and one lucky person will receive a copy of Sew Red, compliments of Jimmy Beans Wool. The winner will be posted on February 28.
