Party at the Fence Post by Nancy Zieman

Wall quilts, full-sized quilts, lap quilts, placemats… A common denominator with almost all quilted pieces is the finishing step—the binding. The process of mitering a corner involves a few steps. The mere mechanics of carrying out the steps at four corners almost cements the technique in your mind!

I’d like to share my favorite binding technique with you. It’s in video form, developed to answer those many questions that are posed by Quilt Expo contest entries on how to add a binding. The lesson begins with the instructions to cut 2-1/2″ crosswise strips of fabric and ends with a neat and accurate finish to any quilted piece. You can find binding techniques in Quilt with Confidence or simply watch below!

Enjoy!

How many of you are planning on attending our 8th annual Quilt Expo, September 6–8? There’s still time to register for lectures and sit & sew classes.

Bye for now,
