The 2013 Sewing & Stitchery Expo is just a few short weeks away, February 28–March 3. It’s held each year at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup, Washington (near Seattle). It’s an annual meet up for those of us who love all things sewing.
Here’s what I’ll be doing at the Sewing & Stitchery Expo.
Friday Night Live, featuring Lucy & Ethel, wait Nancy and Mary!
Back for another round of sewing, cooking, and a whole lot of silly, I hope you can join Mary Mulari and me for the Friday Night event, Kick it Up a Stitch—Second Helping.
We’ve changed our ways and banished any thought of laborious sewing or cooking techniques, we’ve gone LITE! Quick serging and speedy embellishing will “kick up” our sewing projects. An apron, scarf, tote, plus more will be the feature of our SEW LITE techniques. Plus, Mary and I promise to match-up our sewing projects with healthy eating options.
This year, at Friday Night LIVE—with our focus on fast and easy—Baby Lock is giving away a top-of-the-line EVOLUTION serger! “For the love of sewing“—Baby Lock will actually be giving away FIVE sewing machine door prizes on this fun-filled night!
Sew Knits with Confidence Seminars
Thursday through Saturday I’ll be presenting my newest seminar, Sew Knits with Confidence . With the resurgence of knit fabrics and patterns at fabric and even quilting shops, I’m more than delighted to pass along my favorite knit sewing tips. If it’s been awhile since you’ve sewn with knits, let me refresh your memory!
Nancy’s 30 Favorite Sewing & Quilting Techniques
Get ready for a jam-packed 1-1/2 hour seminar on Thursday afternoon, March 1, where I’ll present 30, yes 30 techniques. In honor of my 30th anniversary on TV, I gathered the same number of sewing, quilting, and/or embroidery tips that can save you time and improve your skills.
Register Now During Bonus Days
Today and tomorrow, February 4 & 5, 2013, the Sewing & Stitchery Expo planners are offering two Bonus Days—where attendees can use the event online registration system to purchase additional class tickets—and the $8 handling fee will be waived. (I always like a deal!)
There are many more class options!
Visit sewexpo.com and click on “Online Registration” to peruse the available classes.
I’m looking forward to my visit and classes this year at the Sewing & Stitchery Expo. For me it’s like homecoming week in the spring. I enjoy seeing sewing friends at the largest sewing show in the country. Plus, it’s like traveling into the future as spring has sprung in Puyallup (and it’s still winter in Wisconsin).
Bye for now,

Loved your show Friday night at the Sew Expo. Hope you will be there next year as I would love to be able to attend one of your classes. Thanks for being such a wonderful and sincere person!
Would give my eye teeth to attend this fun event. I am already thinking about planning to go next year.
The effort by you folks can not be forgotten. In January 2013, Little Dresses for Africa gave out dresses to poor children in Malawi through Urunji Child-Care Trust. Most of the children came in torn clothes which they had to throw away when they got these new dresses. You are making a big difference by supporting these non profits. Photos of the children are on http://www.urunjichildcare.org/gallery.html
Benjamin, Thank you for sharing. And thank you to all the people who sewed dresses for these children. Keep up the good work.
Sounds like fun, too bad I don’t live near you. Hopefully you will tape some of it and we can see it later again. That was nice to see last year. You and Mary hamming it up, or should I say hemming it up. You always get along so well it is plain to see you are the best of friends!
I live in the area and have gone almost every year for the last 20 years. It is the most fun sewing event, I always am inspired, and it is my treat to myself since it is always right around my birthday!
What a wonderful trip this would be to come out to Puyallup,. maybe some year. I’ve been to many expos up in Ct. and a few here in Lakeland, Fl.. Some person will surely be very fortunate to be winning the new serger, wish I could be there as I have just the basic model, but it works.
Wow I didn’t even know about this and not too far away, I would sooooo love to meet you in person Nancy! You have been such an incredible inspiration to me, especially in helping me learn to sew again and in so many different ways. My favorites have to be you and Natalie’s landscape quilting and the episodes on serging….. I am no longer intimidated by my serger and its become my goto for quick sewing projects. Sewing has made such a difference in my life! Thanks and hope to meet you at the expo! Safe travels,
Ronda in Bend, Oregon
I’m with Mary, from PA. also, agree that all these fun outings are always so far away. Everywhere but PA.
Would love to be there!
Sorry, I’m in PA and that’s a mighty long trek. Hope all who can attend have a great time. Why are these give aways so far away and out of reach
“No Fair”, We want Nancy to visit a Fair here in Florida! I’m certain her following and loyal regulars around this state would give Nancy the Rock Star Status reception she deserves! FYI the best time to come to Florida would be in the middle of winter on the coldest day in Wisconsin. But be sure to pack something to wear swimming and bring plenty of sunblock! Tampa, Florida WUSF
Oh Boy, I so wish I could go this year! It has been a couple or three years since I have been able to attend. It used to be an annual ritual for my daughter and I!
