No other padding in hot pad excep one layer of insul-brite? Love helping “grands” make hot pads and the doing “creative” quilting stitches.

My grandmother had 7 grandchildren but I was the only one allowed in her sewing room. She had me sewing as I sat on her lap and later sewing for my family. Now I spend my time making quilts for local Vets and hopefully she is beside me. Her love of sewing has spread to me and now to my granddaughters. May she always spread the love.

My granddaughter helps me sew whatever is on the machine…after a couple of inches she moves on…so I capture her interest but don’t bore her with details. I am sure as she matures she will want to know how to sew better since these early experiences are just for fun!

My granddaughter hand wove some some little purses on a loom and wanted to learn how to line them. I helped her make a pattern for the lining, sew them up, and insert them into her purses. She learned how to thread my sewing machine, fill a bobbin, and use several different sewing machine functions that she will hopefully be able to use on future projects.

We are working on Barbie clothes together. She got her own machine for Christmas. We have made bags and little purses together.

  • Marion Paden
    March 6, 2018

I used this same pattern w/o the insulbrite for ‘mug rugs’ for my whole family for Christmas last year. I made sets of 4, using a lot of the scraps in my stash. The predominant colors were chosen for each family.
As easy as they were to make, I never thought of potholders. Thank you.
An even bigger one would make a trivet ‘hot pad’ for the center of the dining table?

  • Tammy Baker
    March 10, 2018

Oh how perfect..that’s just what I could use…always have trouble getting the seam just the way it needs to be to have my finished product look the way it should. Should really cut out a lot of time and frustration!
